Each spring we are greeted with warmer weather and the ever-popular hobby of gardening. It is a new beginning for annuals and a rebirth of our lawns and landscaping. To bring in the color, we plant rows of flowers, and begin to till our vegetable gardens. Obtaining a beautiful overall appearance is the prime objective, and there is always plenty to do to prepare for the growing season. Spring is a fun time of year, especially for those who love rich soil on their hands.

One of the first projects to tackle is the turf grass. Proper lawn care will go a long way by starting out early with the proper fertilizers. Not all fertilizers are made for all lawns and may be specific. Just be certain that you follow the instructions on fertilizer bags, and make sure your type of grass is mentioned. If your lawn was beautiful last season, you will know which type to use this year. During the early spring your lawn should be mowed with the deck set low. This will cause your lawns root systems to spread more rapidly, and protect your turf from being overpowered by weeds.

The favorite part of outdoor gardening is the vegetable garden and yard and gardens. There you will find those that have visions of wonderful salads picked fresh from their own backyard. Your soils should be tilled in the spring to mix in the rich nutrients and soften the dirt that allows for easy planting and root growth. You may want to surround your garden to keep the animals from damaging or ravaging your vegetables.

For that curbside appeal, your flower and plant gardens will need tending. All dead growth should to be eliminated and fresh mulch spread, once your new flowers are planted. Spring is a wonderful time of year and landscaping is a favorite pastime for millions. This year make your garden come alive by getting an early start.
