Having well landscaped garden in your own backyard can be very inspiring for most homeowners. But after the landscape artists and the professional gardeners have done their job of transforming your lawn into your very own oasis, you will be in charge of maintaining your landscaped garden. Although maintenance tasks aren’t really that sophisticated unless if you have a very intricately designed garden there are a number that you have to do if you want o preserve the beauty of your garden.

When it comes to choosing plants that will go into your garden, pick ones that are native and that do not require so much water. Doing so will ensure that they will be able to thrive better and without you having to make so much fuss. By picking plants that are basically drought tolerant, your watering schedule will not be so rigid and tight.

When it comes to lawn care, mowing your lawn is probably the most basic. In order for you to make a great job at this task, pick out a good lawn mower as well as line trimmer and other landscaping equipment necessary. You will be fully utilizing your lawn mower so you should invest in a piece of equipment which will withstand the activity.

Mulching will improve the growth of your plants by providing them with the needed nutrients and you won’t have to use that much fertilizer for the entire year. Mulching also allows the soil to retain moisture needed for growth. Mulching should be done in spring as well as in during the later period of fall. Make sure to use good compost for mulching.

Finally, when watering your lawn it is best to do so early in the morning between the hours of six and eight a.m.  The reason for this is because the soil is more able to retain moisture but at the same time water is not allowed to sit on the plants as in the case of watering in the evening which can lead to plant diseases.
