Motorcycle Racing Events!

All prestigious motorcycle races are always governed or administered by the FIM. Formally known as Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme, this body is the authority in motorcycle racing. They represent around 98 national motorcycle federations, and these are divided into continental unions.

This governing body in motorcycle racing was founded in Paris on December 21, 1904. It used to be called Federation Internationale des Clubs Motocyclistes or FICM. One of the founding members was the British Auto-Cycle Union (ACU). FICM was dissolved two years after, but like any strong federation, it was reborn in 1912, eight years after it was dissolved. It was also during that year when they relocated their headquarters to England.

The name FIM was born in 1949. After ten years, they transferred the HQ again, this time, to Geneva, Switzerland. Apparently, that was not the last time they transferred because in 1994, the headquarters relocated again to Mies, Switzerland. This is, they now had their own building. It was also the start of a progressive governing body in motorcycle racing. The FIM celebrated their centennial celebration last 2004. The celebration was held in Paris in October of that year.
